Incorporating Civil Rights Into Staff Meetings

Every county should have periodic staff meetings. In fact, every county has a file for civil rights that documents staff meetings or conferences where civil rights efforts are reviewed and discussed. The key to remember is that you are not documenting every time the words "civil rights" are mentioned in a meeting. You are documenting staff discussion of plans or implementation of any outreach efforts to minority or underserved audiences. Other discussions may include how to diversify your advisory committee or public notification efforts targeting minority clientele. These are just a few examples. This will save time filing and during the review process.
